On March 16-17, the main competition of the season took place in the Utena multifunctional sports center – the Lithuanian indoor archery championship. 120 representatives of Lithuanian and Latvian archery clubs competed for 2 days and fought for championship titles in 4 archery groups. This time, the archery club “Žaliasis lankas” has delegated as many as 17 people from Alytis who are interested in archery to the championship.
Although the representatives of Alytus did not win many medals this time, there is still something to be happy about. In the women’s hoops group, Inga Timinskienė defended the title of Lithuanian champion, while the men’s hoops team – Rolandas Baranauskas, Giedrius Kavaliauskas and Ugnius Timinskas – won silver medals. The latter also won a bronze medal in the individual competition, in the group of pulley hoops.
A few more representatives of Alytus lacked success in this championship – Paulina Ramanauskaitė, Gintaras Sakalauskas, Paulina Buinauskaitė, Gintarė Markevičienė and Paulina Šidlovskytė this time they were just a hair away from medals and had to settle for fourth place.
Next weekend, 3 people from Alysti – Emilis Tamulionis, Rolandas Baranauskas and Giedrius Kavaliauskas will compete in the selection competition organized by the Lithuanian Archery Federation, where they will try to make their way to the national team, which will compete in the European Archery Championship in Germany in May.
