A 23-year-old Greek student who studied medicine in Bulgaria died about 15 days after being immunized with AstraZeneca vaccine in Bulgaria. The case became clear yesterday after the boy’s father told the Greek media about him, without explicitly linking the fatal outcome with the immunization itself.
However, in the Bulgarian system, in which the data of all immunized people after the first dose are entered, the young man is not registered, “24 Chasa” has learned. This means that there is no evidence that he was vaccinated in our country.
The cause of the ridiculous death was severe thrombocytopenia, explained Pirogov, where the boy was admitted urgently.
According to the father’s story, his son was vaccinated on February 22 with AstraZeneca vaccine, and 10 days later he received his first complaints – gastroenteritis (gastrointestinal inflammation). However, the symptoms did not go away in the next 5 days, due to which the boy sought medical help in “Pirogov”. After the tests, the medics offered to hospitalize him so that he could receive treatment, but the young man refused. Even then, low platelet levels were found.
It is clear from the father’s story that the two decided that the son would return to Greece and be treated there, so he left the hospital. When he returned home, however, his condition worsened. According to the father, he suffered a thrombosis, as a result of which the boy fell and hit his shoulder and more seriously his head. At that moment he was not alone, as he lived with his roommates, and he was quickly taken back to Pirogov. There they found the presence of a hematoma (hemorrhage) in the head, but due to low platelet levels, surgery was impossible because the risk to the boy was high.
“The next morning, however, the clots had spread to all the veins and arteries of the brain, so this situation was irreversible, despite the really ambitious efforts of Bulgarian colleagues,” said the father.
The development of the unfortunate incident, as the father tells it, was also confirmed by “Pirogov”.
However, confirmation of the information that the boy was vaccinated is nowhere to be found.
