And now? In this season, he belongs to the basic line of Slavia. At thirty-three, he is a leader again and full of energy and emotion. During some absences, the coach of the national team Ivan Hašek identified him and sent him to the starting line immediately.

“I guess I can’t even explain it. A year ago I wanted to end my football career, some people didn’t believe me. But I showed that I have a heart and that I am a warrior. I’m back and I’m very happy,” said Bořil. “I focused on myself, on playing for the club. I’ve been successful with that so far, but an invitation to the national team is another level higher ,” he said.

He started on the left edge of the four-man defensive line. He was reliable at the back, often supporting the attack and finding himself very high. “I felt very good. I didn’t think about what I went through. I wanted to help the team, which I did. I really liked it,” said Bořil.

In Slavia, it is more like one of the three stops. “In Slavia, even the third stopper has to attack, so wherever I play, I still go forward,” he reflected on his role.

However, according to him, the 4-2-3-1 formation was suitable for the national team. “I think the third midfielder helped us a lot. Laci played ten cheats so well, the Worm held and nothing passed him. Our two stoppers had one attacker and they dealt with him,” said Bořil.

He was happy with the performance of the whole team, the Czechs were influencing the Scots for a large part of the game. They were much better. “Boys get in shape and start playing at clubs. They moved it here. The fans supported us. We will be happy for the victory,” said the Slavia defender.
