Directed by Jean-Nicolas Orhon, The great history of the P’tit Train du Nord chronologically tells the story of the P’tit Train du Nord, from its establishment by priest Labelle, through its dismantling, to its transformation into a linear park.

Begun in 1891 and completed in 1909 with the construction of the last station in Mont-Laurier, the Le P’tit Train du Nord railway is a major element in the development of the Laurentians. At the time, it was possible to leave by train from Montreal to Mont-Laurier. It was in 1981 that the last passenger train passed through the route. 15 years later, in 1996, the P’tit Train du Nord linear park was inaugurated and became a cycle route.

The premiere of the documentary was organized by the MRC of Antoine-Labelle, in collaboration with the MRC of Laurentides, Pays-d’en-Haut and the City of Saint-Jérôme. Nearly 400 people traveled across the Laurentians to watch the documentary, while the 3 cinemas broadcast the documentary simultaneously.

The feedback on the documentary was positive, highlighting both the nostalgia and the history of the P’tit Train du Nord, a true historical symbol of the Laurentians.

“On the side of the MRC of Antoine-Labelle, it is undeniable that the route contributed to the colonization of the territory and its development, in particular to economic and tourist development,” mentions the prefect of the MRC of Antoine -Labelle and mayor of the City of Mont-Laurier, Daniel Bourdon.
