The great giants of French music Messiah and Boules will be performed at the end of the “Liepaja Art Forum”

The concert program “Het Collectief” will feature one of the most important works of the twentieth century – the French composer Olivier Messian (Olivier Messiaen) ‘End of Quartet Time’ (Quartet for the End of Time). This apocalyptic musical vision was composed by the deeply religious Messiah in 1941 while imprisoned in the Stalag VIII prisoner of war in Silesia. Influenced by the appalling circumstances, the composer chose the biblical apocalypse as the source of inspiration, as a result of which in this unusual and grandiose piece the Messiah managed to turn the concept of eternity into music.
The experienced quintet “Het Collectief” with bold interpretations will bring the masterpieces of Messiah and Boules to the highest professional level, promising the listeners to create a real storm of emotions. The musicians themselves admit that performing the composition “Quartet for the End of Time” is still a breathtaking experience. We are increasingly deeply moved by the universal and mystical message of this work. ”

The 10 bright events will feature contemporary music, visual and movement arts events, as well as two premieres for families with children and a European film program. Participation of Belgian, French and Latvian artists is expected in the festival program.
