This weekend the largest urban art festival in Madrid is celebrated, Pinta Malasaña, a meeting that will fill the streets of the neighborhood with art on sunday may 29. National and international artists, from Japan, Mexico, Argentina, France, Portugal, UK, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, Morocco and Venezuela, will create live during sweet hours their artistic proposals.
The works, which will be carried out in the outside of shops, the institutions and associations that have given permission to intervene in their spaces, will be distributed throughout the Malasaña neighbourhood. The venue for the event will be La Industrial (C/San Andrés, 8). In addition to enjoying the artists’ creations, attendees will also be able to choose one of the prizes through the popular vote. Also, during the weekend there will be Parallel activities as creative ceramic workshops, beads, candles, tufting and painting techniques.
At the end of the day, the three contest winners, who will receive a prize of €1,000, €500 and €300. The jury will be made up of the winner of Pinta Malasaña 2021; an international art curator and a prominent journalist in the area of culture. In addition, a €300 prize will be awarded to the public’s favorite work. In addition to the official contest, the day before Pinta Malasaña (Saturday, May 28) the Mahou Young Talents of Urban Art event will be held, in which twenty of the selected artists will participate.
