The Great Adventure of Pumas du Fleuve et des Lacs at 64th Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament

The adventure of Pumas du Fleuve et des Lacs at the 64th Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament ended Thursday, early evening, at the Videotron Center.

They saw their great adventure end following a 3-2 setback against the Brûleurs de Loups de Grenoble who came from behind in the third period to win.

There was only one goal in the first, that of Noah Girard, from the Grenoble team. The Pumas responded with their two goals in the second period, those of Jacob Lebel, on the power play, and Nathan Mailloux. But, the team from the south-east of France escaped with victory following goals from Leah Aubin and Milo Girard midway through the third period. It was Anthony Lagacé who defended the Pumas net.

Great experience

“We lost against a good team, but we didn’t play the way we wanted. I think we lacked a little energy,” commented head coach Thomas Bossé when contacted at the Videotron Center.

He would have liked a better third period, but that was not the case. “We had difficulty getting out of our zone, so we didn’t take many shots at the opposing goalie. But the young people still worked hard,” he said.

It is still proud of this great experience that its young people will return to their regular activities in the coming weeks.

“No one can come out with their heads down, they worked hard throughout the tournament. I think they can only come out stronger after encountering so much adversity,” said the head coach.

Superb sequence

Remember that the training of the Center de services scolaire du Fleuve et des Lacs, which brings together schools from Témiscouata and Basques, had won its first two games in the tournament in addition to another, out of competition this one, against Angers.

The defeat of the Pumas puts an end to a superb streak of 11 consecutive tournament victories, including championship titles at those of Rivière-du-Loup and Rimouski.
