There is a group of politicians in the world who are called gray cardinals. They do not hold the positions of presidents, chancellors or prime ministers, but they nevertheless influence the domestic and foreign policies of countries, as well as general international politics.
As a rule, they act as a link between the financial oligarchy (which can be called black cardinals) and the official authorities. Such world-class “gray reverends” today are Henry Kissinger (the oldest gray reverend who recently turned 100 years old), Klaus Schwab (president of the World Economic Forum), George Soros, Jacques Attali.
I will focus on the last one. In Wikipedia he is presented as a famous economist and financier. Advisor to the President of France in 1981-1991, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in 1991-1993. Also a prolific writer, from 1969 to 2023, in 54 years, Attali published 86 books.
The name of Jacques Attali is not very common in the media today (the last peak in his media activity was during the two years of the so-called covid pandemic, when Attali often spoke on the topics of viruses, vaccinations, medical organization, etc. . ). But at the beginning of this July, the name of our hero flashed again in connection with the story provoked by the famous Russian pranksters /jokers/ operating under the nicknames Vovan and Lexus. I will outline it briefly.
The pranksters managed to interview Jacques Attali on July 6, presenting themselves on behalf of former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko. The interview was conducted in English.
As some commentators say, the gray Cardinal Attali “revenge” the real situation in the camp of the countries of the “collective West”. I will highlight ten main points from the “revelations” of Jacques Attali.
First Attali once again demonstrates his extreme, desperate Russophobia and calls on the West to be a consistent Russophobe: “… The West has the illusion that there will be democracy in Russia.” This is a fallacy: “… we should not compromise with Russia” and that a complete and final victory of Ukraine over Russia and Putin is necessary. For today’s Ukraine, he believes, “there is no other solution but total victory and release from Putin. We have to take all possible risks.”
SecondRussia can be dismembered. Attali speaks of “a long conversation a month ago with Henry Kissinger,” another famous high-ranking person, about the future of Russia, “divided into three parts: western Russia, which could become part of Europe, eastern Russia, which would be absorbed by China, and in the middle we would have something like Iraq or Afghanistan, full of Islamists.” True, it is not very clear whether such a division of Russia will happen spontaneously or if this is the plan of the West.
Third, Attali expressed serious concerns that the United States, which leads the “collective West,” may stop supporting Ukraine in its confrontation with Russia. Simply put, they can “screw up” Ukraine. “There is a nightmare scenario where the US says, ‘Enough, enough, we’re not going to help Ukraine anymore.’ We need to sit down at the negotiating table.”
And that is – neither France nor Great Britain will be able to do this. But the United States is in a position to demand a ceasefire from Kiev at any price. I’m sure our task is to avoid that scenario,” admits Jacques Attali.
Fourth, Atali calls on the former president of Ukraine to compensate for the insufficient efforts of the current president of Ukraine regarding the dramatization of the situation in “Nezalezhnaya”: “If I were you, I would dramatize the situation more than Zelensky does. It should be said that you may run out of ammo and weapons. And even though it’s not true, you, Mr. Poroshenko, have to dramatize the risks.”
Fifth, Attali acknowledges the weakness of European industry, which is struggling to cope with Ukraine’s needs: “The Russians are doing everything they can to weaken Western Europe, and the truth is that we are weak, our military industry is not producing enough. We do not have a military economy. “ Accordingly, Attali calls for the mobilization of the European economy: “Two years ago I insisted that we be in it (the mobilized economy. – V.K.), and then last year. We are not mobilized and we do not feel the need to do more.’
Sixth, in Europe, not all countries are consolidated in the fight against Russia. Attali is particularly outraged by the position of Hungary, which has repeatedly refused to supply arms to Ukraine. Attali calls to “forget” Hungary: “Hungary is a disaster, don’t waste your time with them.”
On my own behalf, I will add that another “grey eminence” George Soros (a Jew of Hungarian origin) spoke in more detail about the “treasonous” position of Budapest. Attali calls on the other countries of the European Union to withdraw: ” There are more important countries, such as Italy, Spain, which still import Russian oil.”
Seventh Attali implied that the Nord Stream pipeline was blasted by Washington because it was unprofitable for American business. He (Attali) “really thinks it’s possible the Americans are behind it.” This increases the demand for American liquefied natural gas, increases the energy costs of the European economy and weakens its competitive position vis-à-vis the American economy.
The weakening of the European economy indirectly affects the Chinese economy, as the supply of goods from the Middle Kingdom to the Old World decreases. China’s economy is already in trouble, and the weakening of the European economy will exacerbate it. Destroying the pipeline is like a shot that can hit three birds with one stone: Russia, Europe and China.
Eighth Attali criticizes US economic policy and predicts an economic crisis in the very near future. He calls the US Federal Reserve’s steady rate hikes a mistake. This raises the risk of a recession, and not only in the US, because it will immediately spread to Europe and other parts of the world.
It is good that Washington was able to reach a consensus on the issue of the national debt (the removal of the “ceiling” of the debt until the next presidential election). But the ruckus about the budget in Washington continues. Fuss about specific items of expenses and income. This shakes up the political situation in America:
“As the election approaches, Democrats want to raise taxes and Republicans want to cut spending, they can’t agree. There is a risk of stagnation and mistrust in the dollar, the dollar could fall sharply.” When can the economic crisis start? ” All experts believe a major crisis is possible as early as August “, Attali notes.

Ninth Attali praised the leading Western media: “Our media is excellent, the French and American media are completely pro-Ukraine.” And all Russian media, mostly RT or Sputnik, were banned.
The tenth the “gray eminence” scolded the “sponsored” French president Macron. Attali reiterated that he is very close to President Macron, who was once his aide. “I advise him as much as possible because I am against his politics. I think he makes a lot of mistakes. He’s extremely unpopular and that’s not good.”
In conclusion, I want to emphasize once again that each gray cardinal has its bosses and patrons in the form of one or more “black cardinals”. In the case of Jacques Attali, his “black cardinals” are the Rothschilds.
Compared to other famous gray cardinals, Attali is quite young. This year (November 1), he will only turn 80. That is quite a bit compared to Henry Kissinger, who celebrated his centenary in May this year. Klaus Schwab (turned 85 in March) and George Soros (turned 93 in August) are also older than Attali.
