The Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Abd al-Latif Darian, visited Makassed Hospital in solidarity with him after the repeated attacks against him and his medical and administrative staff. Mufti Darian stressed, “The exposure to Makassed Hospital is something that is not approved by the true Sharia or the law, because it exposes an ancient service institution to harm, which harms a large segment of citizens who resort to this hospital seeking hospitalization or treatment.”
He added: “Affronting the dignity of any doctor, nurse, or any official employee on the hospital campus is an insult to each and every one of us, and Dar Al-Fatwa is keen on the Makassed Association with all its medical, hospital, educational and service institutions. Let us all be keen on the sanctity of our Islamic and national institutions,” considering that “Al-Makassed Hospital He was and will remain a symbol of steadfastness and sacrifice to provide health care in all the circumstances that Lebanon is going through, to remain distinguished in meeting the call of every patient.
Derian appealed to “the state and the concerned institutions, especially the security forces, to take deterrent measures to ensure the safety of the hospital, its workers, and everyone who visits it for hospitalization and medical care.”
