“The Grand Mufti of Egypt visits India to enhance religious communication abroad”

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Grand Mufti of Egypt, Shawky Allam, arrived in India in a reception ceremony described as “legendary” in a tweet published by the Egyptian Dar Al Iftaa on its official page on the social networking site, Twitter, Friday.

And the Egyptian Dar Al Iftaa stated that the Mufti “served Friday sermons in front of 30,000 worshipers in the Al-Futuh Mosque located in Madinat Al-Maarifa in Kerala state, which is the largest mosque in India,” indicating that the visit comes in light of its strategy to enhance religious communication with abroad.

Dar Al-Iftaa indicated that Allam “met the head of the General Secretariat of the Fatwa houses and bodies in the world – and His Eminence Sheikh Abu Bakr Ahmed Al-Muslyar, the Mufti of India, at the Al-Futuh Mosque located in the city of knowledge in the state of Kerala, which is the largest mosque in India, on the sidelines of his official visit to India. It started a few days ago, during which he and a number of senior official, executive and religious leaders in India met.

During the meeting, the Mufti stressed “the importance of the great role of the Mufti of India and its scholars in highlighting the true face of Islam and correcting its image, stressing the importance of taking fatwas from specialists, in order to achieve the purposes of Islamic law, which preserves societal peace,” according to the Dar Al Iftaa statement.

The Mufti of Egypt had gone to India last week at the invitation of the head of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations in the Government of India, Vinay Sahasrabodhi, on an official visit that extends for five days, where he will meet a number of senior official, executive and religious leaders in India, according to a previous report published by the Egyptian House of Ifta. .
