Governor of the Khabarovsk Territory Mikhail Degtyarev declared in the telegram channel, which will support the Canadian hockey player Cameron Lee, who plays for Amur, in obtaining Russian citizenship.
Lee, who played one season in the KHL, told Match TV about plans to get a Russian passport “in the very near future.” Starting next season, KHL clubs will be able to add no more than three foreign players to the application.
“The very case when a Canadian plans to obtain Russian citizenship and continue to play for our Amur. We will support him in this intention, ”Degtyarev wrote.

Earlier, Russian citizenship was received by American Dynamo Moscow defender Brennan Menell. Canadian newcomer SKA Brendan Leipsik announced the same plans in July, and forward Ostap Safin renounced Czech citizenship in order to play for the Togliatti Lada.
Last season, Lee scored seven goals and made 13 assists in 53 games for Amur.
