(Ouagadougou, November 24, 2023). The President of the Transition, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE granted, this Friday late afternoon, an audience with the Governor of the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO) , Jean-Claude Kassi BROU.

The Governor of the BCEAO provided the President of the Transition with an update on the economic and monetary situation in the UEMOA zone. “We have indicated that economically, growth remains solid and we will have to end the year with growth above 5% and the prospects for 2024 are even better,” argued Jean-Claude Kassi BROU. According to him, inflation rates, which were a concern during his first visit last February, have “much improved”.

“At the level of Burkina Faso, we noted that economic growth, inflation and aggregates are well oriented,” he underlined.

The Governor of the BCEAO also mentioned the ECOWAS sanctions which impact not only the country concerned but also, and indirectly, the entire West African community. “We hope that the current discussions will allow us to pass this milestone as quickly as possible so that we can continue our progress,” declared Jean-Claude Kassi BROU.
