The Government delegation in the negotiations with the ELN asked President Petro to make a decision about continuing to develop the work of the national board which is being done by the member -this weapon, or continue the regional board with the Frente Comuneros del Sur in Nariño.

In the midst of the political and social situation the country is going through, the Government’s Delegation in the Dialogues with the National Liberation Army (ELN) issued a strong statement in response to recent events related to the guerrilla group.
Among the most important points in the statement is the impossibility of holding a double negotiation with the ELN, participating at the same time in a national dialogue and in a parallel process with a specific guerrilla front.
This situation is considered to be legally and politically unstable, raising a complex dilemma in the government’s negotiating strategy.
With this crossroads, the delegation asks President Petro as Head of State to make a decisive decision. This decision could mean continuing the work of the national dialogue table with the ELN or starting a special dialogue table with the structure of Nariño, or even because this structure does not represent the group with does he negotiate at the national level anymore, which opens the door to an autonomous process with that structure.
For the peace delegation of the Government, a negotiation process cannot be carried out in two situations with the same group: In this case the national board and the other a process with the front of the National Liberation Army, ELN, no this double face legally and politically unstable.
