The Government wants tourism as a new source of income for GDP – Jornal OPaís

The Minister of State and Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic, Adão de Almeida, said yesterday in the city of Lubango, province of Huíla, that the private sector must be the main player in the process of diversifying the national economy, where we want tourism as a new source of income for the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

According to Adão de Almeida, the Angolan Government has been paying special attention to the tourism sector, due to its importance to economic diversification policies, with the development of various activities, such as the National Tourism Development Plan (PLANATUR), o recently. approved by the President of the Republic.

“It is not enough to reiterate the interest and importance that the Government attaches to tourism, the ambition of seeing the sector transformed into a relevant area of ​​the national economy and the confirm that this path must be taken with the participation of the private sector”, he said. To this end, the Minister of State, PLANATUR continued to clearly explain the vision and ambition of the Government, saying that it is necessary to roll up our sleeves and continue the work.

“Continue to work to get foreign tourists into our country, as was done recently with the exemption of tourist visas for citizens of 98 countries, a unilateral step by the Angolan State. We must continue to work to improve the business environment, to encourage more participation from the private sector”, he said.

On the other hand, Adão de Almeida said that in order for the private sector to participate more in tourism, it is necessary to work on the preparation, approval and execution of a project to simplify and reduce bureaucracy in administrative procedures.
public, which focuses solely on the tourism sector, simplifying tourism.

“With this project we will be able to develop the entire chain of public-administrative intervention in the different branches from the local level to the center so that the state-private relationship is more pleasant,” he said.

Invest in infrastructure

The need for strategic investment in infrastructure, staff training, marketing and policies for the development of tourism were the points highlighted by the minister of the region, Márcio Daniel, in his intervention.

The minister highlighted the importance of continuing to create a business environment favorable to investors and ensuring safety and access to tourist destinations, in which com must play a fundamental role -public-private partnerships in the process, enabling a holistic and sustainable approach.

Marcio Daniel said that tourism is not just a way to attract visitors, but a bridge connecting nations, people, cultures and economies, and Angola, with its landscapes, cultural heritage and hospitality, has the potential unique, when analyzed strategically. to be the driving force behind a new economic era in the country.

“Economic diversification is more than a wish, it is an absolute necessity to guarantee the stability and sustainable development of Angola.” Tourism plays a key role in this endeavour, providing not only a source of income and job creation for the youth, but also fosters cultural exchange and promotes global understanding,” he said.

For the official, the 7th edition of BITUR, which takes place under the motto “Tourism as a proven factor for the diversification of the economy in Angola”, shows the need to invest in the sector as a strategy operating for the diversification of the economy. , promoting growth, sustainability and stability of the economy in the short and medium term.
