The Government shows its commitment to the fight against cancer and support for patients

Pablo Zuloaga, Paula Fernández Viaña and Javier López Marcano have walked the 6.5 km of the VI March Against Cancer in Torrelavega

The Regional Vice President, Pablo Zuloaga, the Minister of the Presidency, Paula Fernández Viaña, and the Minister of Industry, Javier López Marcano, today staged the “firm commitment” of the Government of Cantabria in the prevention, early detection and treatment of breast cancer and “unconditional support” for people who suffer from it and their closest environment.

For this reason, the three councilors have participated in the VI March Against Cancer in Torrelavega and have walked, with the rest of the participants, the 6.5 kilometers of the event, organized by the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) to raise funds for to finance research projects and aid programs for patients and their families.

The race, which is recovering after two years of hiatus due to the pandemic, has combined urban landscapes of Torrelavega on its route, as it has run through several streets of the city, and the natural landscapes of La Viesca park, although the start and the arrival has been made from Boulevard Demetrio Herrero in the capital of Besaya, reports the Government.

With their presence, the councilors have shown, once again, the support and recognition of the regional Executive for the work carried out by the AECC, organizers of the event, and have wanted to send a “message of hope” to the entire population, since, both Healthcare advances such as advances in research are allowing “we can look cancer in the face and face it with excellent results”. And that, without a doubt, helps with this type of event attended by hundreds of people committed to the cause, they explained.

Likewise, they have thanked the financial collaboration of all those who, despite not attending in person, have contributed by acquiring a ‘zero bib number’, since the financial endowment is “key” to achieving progress in research.

The mayor of Torrelavega, Javier López, and various members of the Municipal Corporation have also participated.
