“The Minister of Education has a duty to provide answers for the abolition of the Vella School and the transfer of its property to the Supreme Ecclesiastical Academy of Athens,” emphasizes Meropi Tzoufi, after the Alumni Associations filed a related resolution as a parliamentary petition.
As reported by the graduates of the Associations in Ioannina and Athens, this is a huge blow on the part of the government, which chose to discredit the School’s contribution and history. In this context, they request the lifting of the decision and the cancellation of the transfer of the property, while they open the discussion for the establishment of at least an equal or Higher University School.
The MP of Ioannina from SYRIZA-PS calls on Niki Kerameos to take her responsibilities, to reflect on the consequences of her decision to “lockout” the Vellas School and to take seriously the protests of the Alumni Associations.
