Libreville, Sunday July 30, 2023 (Infos Gabon) – The Gabonese Prime Minister, Alain-Claude Bilie By Nze, spoke last Friday with the heads of diplomatic missions posted in Gabon on the conditions for organizing this election.

The diplomatic corps accredited to Gabon is now well informed about the conditions for the organization of the triple ballot scheduled for August 26, which will see the presidential, legislative and local elections organized on the same day. During a meeting organized last Friday, the head of the Gabonese government spoke to the heads of diplomatic missions posted in Gabon on the way in which these elections are organized and the conditions met for a democratic, transparent, peaceful and inclusive.

“It seems useful to me to recall that the political consultation, majority and opposition convened by the Head of State last February, responded to this need to have peaceful elections thanks to a consensual electoral system. The revision of the Constitution which followed, as well as the modifications of the electoral law also participated in this consensual desire to provide our country with a credible electoral system having obtained the consent of the greatest number., indicated Alain-Claude Bilie By Nze.

Wanting to be more reassuring, the speaker told his audience that “the government will do everything possible to guarantee inclusive and credible democratic elections, by ensuring the safety of people and property, by promoting free electoral competition and by allowing political actors equitable access to public media, in accordance with the law”. Before making it known that “respect for laws and regulations is essential to preserve the peace and stability of the country during this electoral period”.

According to Alain-Claude Bilie By Nze, “political elections should not be experienced by our compatriots as moments of anxiety. On the contrary, they are moments of responsibility since it is a question of choosing the men and women to whom the sovereign people must entrust the leadership of the country for the mandates to come”. The Prime Minister made a point of stressing to his hosts “the importance of the neutrality of international partners and ambassadors before, during and after the elections”.
