During a meeting with the heads of the High Authority for Communication (HAC) and the Gabonese Election Center (CGE) last Thursday, July 20, the head of government said he was ready to support the electoral process in a calm and peaceful atmosphere in Gabon.

The president of the HAC, Germain Ngoyo Moussavou, meanwhile assured that all candidates, especially those running for the presidential election, will be treated on the same footing. “We are already going to ensure that the passage in all the media of the various candidates is respected. Airtime, for example, will be the same for everyone, whether you are a candidate for a small political party or a candidate for a much larger party. On the ground, we will deploy teams of journalists who will cover the electoral campaign of the various candidates, but also the conduct of the elections on D-Day”he said, in remarks reported by the public channel Gabon 24 and transcribed by the site Le Nouveau Gabon.
Concerning the exchanges between the Prime Minister and the office of the CGE, it was a question of approaching the subject on the effectiveness of the electoral process and on the elements on which the government should accompany the institution to make in “sort of leading the country in a climate of serenity in order to achieve peaceful tomorrows”, according to the Primature. The president of the CGE, Michel Stéphane Bonda, reassures on the smooth running of operations in the field: “We have deployed our various electoral commissions to collect all the candidacies that have been declared throughout the national territory. Currently, we are in the examination of all the candidatures which were collected by the 87 electoral commissions”.
Note the head of government wanted to reassure on security during the elections of August 26, 2023, in order to avoid the post-election violence that occurred in 2016 in the country after the announcement of the re-election of President Ali Bongo Ondimba, candidate for a 3rd term at the head of the country.
