The government appears determined to respond to the pressure it receives from the opposition regarding the fire in Attica. In this context, Megaro Maximou seems willing to respond to the gauntlet thrown at her by Nikos Androulakis. The president of PaSoK asked for a discussion about the August fires in Attica before the day.
According to government sources, the government will request a debate in Parliament in September. That is, when the tension that exists these days passes and we are heading towards the end of the fire protection season. Thus, as it is said, there will be an account based on evidence and real data. That is, to have a discussion on the substance and not a discussion with political crowns and buzzwords.
The debate can take place after August 28, when the work of the Parliament starts again.
SYRIZA: The government is blowing the whistle
On the occasion of what was conveyed by government circles on Wednesday morning, SYRIZA commented in its announcement that “the government is “blowing the whistle” at a time when for two days “specific data on the use of aerial means in the Attica fire” have been requested.
“They talk about data, we ask for data. To give them in time, so that we all have the exact data” was also highlighted in the text shared by Koumoundourou.
In the same announcement, SYRIZA reiterated that it requests:
- “from the National Coordination Center for Operations and Crisis Management (ESKEDIK/PS) to provide the telematics data of all aerial vehicles that operated in Attica from Sunday August 11th until Tuesday August 13th”.
- “copy of the ‘Engage’ Information System on air and ground assets”.
- “to be granted a copy of the Minutes of the meeting of the Civil Protection Coordinating Body of August 12”.
“The Greek people are entitled to the truth and cannot wait until September for the specific facts,” clarified SYRIZA.
