.- The government of Castilla-La Mancha has authorized in the Governing Council the procurement of the supply of calendar vaccines for the year 2023, on the basis of the framework agreement between the state and the autonomous communities for the selection of suppliers of calendar vaccines and other .

The Minister for Equalities and spokeswoman, Blanca Fernández, reported that “the agreement provides for an investment of 9,678,885 euros”, underlining the importance of vaccination programmes, as they “constitute a powerful tool to protect public health. Thank you through vaccination we have won the battle against Covid and many other diseases that we have practically eradicated from our country. Furthermore, we protect public health, essentially of the child population, the elderly population or those in groups at risk”.

Therefore, as the Minister said, it is a question of the prevention of infectious diseases and the control and eventual eradication of some communicable diseases, while at the same time obtaining significant improvements in the health of the population.

Blanca Fernández emphasized that this file is being processed in advance to have the 313,250 doses of vaccine product available at the beginning of January 2023, which guarantees the supply and vaccination guidelines indicated in the technical sheets approved by the Spanish Agency for medicines and health products without any interruption.

Contract of 15 lots

The types of vaccines purchased in 15 lots, both for children and adults, are those related to hepatitis A and B, diphtheria, tetanus, acellular pertussis, inactivated poliomyelitis, haemophilus influenzae conjugate type b, measles, rubella, mumps, varicella, meningococcus and human papilloma virus.

Specifically, these are 45,000 doses of hexavalent vaccine against hepatitis B, diphtheria, tetanus, acellular pertussis, inactivated poliomyelitis and type b conjugated Haemophilus influenzae; 24,000 against diphtheria, tetanus, acellular pertussis and inactivated poliomyelitis; 250 doses will be purchased for the haemophilus influenzae type b conjugate vaccine; for diphtheria, tetanus, acellular pertussis, with reduced antigenic content, 15,000 doses will be purchased; 42,000 in case of diphtheria and tetanus also with reduced antigenic content; 1,000 doses of hepatitis B vaccine in children and 10,000 in adults; for hepatitis A, 1,000 and 2,000 doses will be purchased for children and adults, respectively; 24,000 doses in the case of measles, rubella and mumps vaccines; another 24,000 against chicken pox and 18,000 doses will be purchased for the vaccine against measles, rubella, mumps and chicken pox.

For the meningococcal C conjugate vaccine, 15,000 doses will also be purchased; 40,000 in the case of meningococcal serogroup B vaccine; and 52,000 against 9-valent human papilloma virus.

A budget multiplied by six: from five to 30 million a year

The councilor recalled that by 2023 the government of Castilla-La Mancha, chaired by Emiliano García-Page, will allocate 30 million euros in vaccines.

“Right now we are the autonomous community with the highest vaccination profile, which means that we have the highest vaccination coverage in the whole country,” said Blanca Fernández, who underlined that “we have gone from the five million euros they invested in Castilla-La Mancha in 2015, to the 30 million we will invest in 2023. This means having multiplied the public health budget effort by six”.

News on the vaccination calendar

Regarding the news, the minister and spokesman for Equal Opportunities reported that the human papillomavirus vaccine for boys and girls from 12 years of age and the free meningococcal vaccine B (Bexero) for all boys and girls from two months of age. Shingles vaccine is also incorporated for the elderly population.
