Real Madrid and France forward Karim Benzema has been crowned the best player in the world for the 2021-2022 season, for the first time in his career.
French Real Madrid player Karim Benzema was crowned today Monday with the award as the best player in the world, for the 2021-2022 season, awarded by the magazine “France Football”.
Benzema won the Ballon d’Or for the first time in his career, beating Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski, who finished second, and Bayern Munich’s Sadio Mane, who finished third.
Benzema led his Real Madrid team to win three local and continental titles (La Liga, Champions League, Spanish Super), and was crowned the European Nations League title with the French national team.
Last season, Benzema contributed 66 goals in 56 games, scoring 50, providing his teammates with 16 assists and an estimated goal percentage of one goal every 71 minutes played.

Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski retained the ‘Gerd Muller’ top scorer award after scoring 57 goals last season and Manchester City were named best club.
Barcelona’s Alexia Botías won the Women’s Player of the Year award for the second consecutive year.
Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois won the Yashin Award for best goalkeeper last season.
Barcelona player Gavi won the “Copa” award as best young player last season.
Bayern Munich’s Sadio Mane received the first edition of the “Socrates Award”, which is awarded to players active in the field of humanitarian services.
