The government has exempted companies providing information technology and IT services from income tax on exports till June 2025, the National Assembly was informed today.
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan said during the question interval that information technology has emerged as an important component of our national economy and the government is focusing on the development of this sector.
He said that IT parks are being established in Pakistan with the cooperation of the Korean government. He said that an IT park has been established in Islamabad while an IT park will also be established in Karachi with the aim of strengthening this sector.
Ali Muhammad Khan told the House that two million applications have been received so far under Naya Pakistan Housing Project.
Regarding Education, Parliamentary Secretary Wajeha Ikram said that despite the economic problems, the government is focusing on the promotion of education, including higher education.
National Food Security Minister Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar while responding to an attention notice said that an action plan has been drawn up with the cooperation of partners to keep the agricultural sector safe from locusts.
He said that the project will be implemented during the next one and a half years, which will cost seven billion 30 crore rupees and the federal government will provide five billion rupees for it.
The federal minister said that aerial spraying has been done in Sindh and South Punjab to protect crops from locusts. He said that due to taking precautionary measures, the rival’s crop has been saved from locusts.
In response to another attention notice, Civil Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan told the House that the government has increased the income of PIA by Rs. In the year 2019, there has been a decrease of 11 billion rupees.
