Nextren.com – Watching movies by streaming is mostly done by Indonesian netizens.
But do you know what the risks will be for the parties involved?
It turned out that throughout 2021, the government stated that it had closed hundreds of illegal movie watching sites on the internet.
Director of Copyright and Industrial Design of the Directorate General of Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Syarifuddin in the webinar Stop Watching Pirated Films on the Internet said, throughout 2019, 66 sites were blocked.

While last year, there were 148 sites and in 2021 there were 224 sites that were closed.
“That is, the more widespread or the more illegal movie viewing sites are closed,” said Syarifuddin.
He considered the film is the work of humans and certainly has a copyright.
In the copyright there are economic and moral rights.
He said the most problematic was economic rights.
Because economic rights are directly related to being the copyright holder of the films they produce.
“The filmmakers have to get the economic benefits, they have to get it if there is a commercial value,” said Syafruddin.
Head of Research and Development Division, Indonesian Film Agency, Tito Imanda, said that in making a feature film or feature-length film, it costs at least Rp. 8 billion.
He gave an example, if the price of a movie ticket at the cinema is Rp. 45 thousand, then as much as Rp. 5 thousand will be used for taxes.
The remaining Rp 40 thousand is divided between the producers and the cinema.

Means to pay back the cost of making a film, it requires at least 400 thousand viewers.
Even if it reduces production costs, it has the potential to reduce the quality of the film itself. If that’s the case, said Tito, it will be the audience who will lose because the quality of the film they watch is not optimal.
“By watching through illegal channels, it means increasing the possibility that the next Indonesian films will not be as good.”
“Over time the quality of Indonesian films will decline again. So we ourselves as viewers lose, not only the industry,” said Tito.
