Less than one in five departments – sixteen in total – including Bouches-du-Rhône, Côte-d’Or, Haute-Garonne, Gers, Isère, Moselle, Seine-et-Marne, the Vaucluse have applied to recover and manage portions of national roads and free motorways instead of the State.
The government indeed published, on January 8, the list of beneficiaries as well as that of the motorways, roads and sections of tracks which will be transferred within the framework of the 4 D law. having requested such a transfer: Lyon, Dijon and Toulouse.
As for the regions, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Occitanie and the Grand Est, will experiment with the system of making roads available. Grand Est, for example, obtained the A30 and A31 cross-border transit axes knowing that the local authority supports the project, like the European community of Alsace,introduce a regional heavy goods vehicle tax to avoid the postponement of trucks from Germany.
