On the first business day of 2022, The Government reported what will be the deadlines to follow for the adaptation in the refrigeration plants of the fractionation system for beef, which should not exceed 32 kilos per piece. The measure will leave behind retail marketing through whole half-cattle.
According to the regulations published today in the Official Gazette, but dated December 22, in a joint resolution of the Ministries of Productive Development and Agriculture, Slaughter establishments must carry out different stages of implementation to comply with current regulations.
In this sense, it was detailed that the refrigerators of federal traffic will have to present within 90 calendar days the “Investment and Adequacy Plan” of their facilities and, within 180 calendar days, have executed and started the program presented.
While, for the provincial or municipal traffic refrigerators, the term will be longer: 180 calendar days to present the “Investment and Adaptation Plan” in their plants and in 365 calendar days to have executed and put into operation said plan.
It is worth remembering that Last April, the Ministries of Agriculture, Productive Development and Labor ordered that as of January 1 of this year, the dispatch of beef from plants to retail stores should only be carried out in individual pieces of no more than 32 kilos. Although the size of the half cattle may vary, currently in the domestic market each half cattle can weigh between 85 and 130 kilos.
Among the objectives of the sanction of the regulation was to “Modernize the meat distribution chain in half-cattle to move to a distribution by anatomical pieces of less weight that allows suppliers to make a better allocation of the pieces according to the needs of each retail market.”
Also, at that time, the need to “Take care of the physical well-being of workers in the meat sector, avoiding that they transport with their body half cattle of weights much higher than the conventions and the International Labor Organization (ILO).”
In today’s post, it was detailed that the presentation “It must be formalized through the Remote Procedures Portal (TAD) before the National Directorate of Agricultural Commercial Control, dependent on the Ministry of Agriculture.”
“The National Directorate, together with Senasa, will coordinate the monitoring of the planned implementation,” they reported.
