Through a press release, the government explained that the money corresponds to a disbursement process of $ 45,140,000 corresponding to an incentive that will be granted to police officers in recognition of their work during the emergency caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19).
“Today, the members of the Police Bureau have begun to receive $ 4,000 dollars in their bank accounts. This money corresponds to the first phase of the Strategic Plan to Reactivate Our Economy, Support Our Merchants and Protect Our Workers in response to the emergency caused by the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, which we signed recently, “said the governor.
Román indicated that the money is exempt from tax deductions.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of the Police, Henry Escalera, reiterated that with the Government’s incentive he intends to “do justice and distinguish” the work of the officers of the Uniformed.
“From the first moment, in coordination with the work team of the Department of Public Security, we worked hard to ensure that this disbursement materialized quickly. We recognize that we face a historical situation and that our colleagues are part of the first line of defense to combat the spread of this virus, ”said Police Commissioner Henry Escalera Rivera.
Regarding the incentives destined to the Bureau for Emergency Management and Disaster Administration; 9-1-1 Emergency System; Forensic Science; Special Investigations; Corps of Firefighters and Corps of Medical Emergencies, Román assured that the pertinent coordinations are carried out and the date of the disbursement will be announced soon.
