At the Cabinet meeting on Thursday Beauty Sabīne Ulberte, the head of the Association of Specialists, called for those who work in the field of beauty care, who are currently denied it, to be allowed to work as well. “I call for an end to discrimination against highly qualified professionals,” she said, asking if there were reasonable demands that soon 20 people in the same room could be without masks, but a specialist with a respirator and a client with measured temperature and other safety measures should not. She also drew attention to the fact that some of these specialists continue to work, but some who honestly follow the restrictions cannot work.

Minister of Economics Jānis Vitenbergs He also added that it was strange that part of the industry was denied the opportunity to work for seven months, but SPAs and other service locations could receive a set of services. Medical institutions are also allowed to provide therapeutic massage, but other specialists are not allowed. “These industries need to implement a security protocol and be allowed to work,” the minister added.

However, the health sector emphasized that all service providers were banned from working, and that controls, shortcomings and irregularities were detected, as well as penalties.

Having heard all the parties involved, Kariņš emphasized that the government would return to this issue next week. “The MoD will review the rules, see if there is anything to be improved and put in place a clearer and more appropriate framework,” he added.
