The Government announces the tender to remodel the Cervantes Theater in Segovia

Segovia, Dec 15 (EFE) .- The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda has published the announcement for the tender for the rehabilitation project of the Cervantes Theater, built at the beginning of the 20th century in Segovia and whose remodeling has been paralyzed since 2007.

As reported in a note by the City Council, the tender has an amount of 10,634,136 euros, an investment that will be made entirely by the central government, and offers can be submitted until January 29, 2021.

The day after that deadline, the opening of envelopes will begin, the chosen company will be announced in February, and the execution period of the works is 42 months.

To make the decision, the council has explained that the economic offer will have a valuation of 60 points out of 100, and the technical quality of the project will count 40 points out of 100.

The Segovia City Council is the owner of the property and who will manage it, so it acts as a co-promoter of the rehabilitation of the building, and has already granted the building license, so that, after the award, the date of commencement of restoration It will depend on the ministry.

According to the remodeling plan, the theater, which opened its doors for the first time in 1923, will have 680 seats and a capacity of 866 people at the end of the works.

The building, located in the historic center of the city, has been closed and unused since 2007, when the rehabilitation works were stopped.

As reported by the City Council, the intention of the new project is to “emphasize the most characteristic and relevant spaces, architecture and spirit of this theater” and propose, in turn, a “modern solution” that adapts to “functional requirements , current techniques and formalities “.

In this line, it will seek to maintain the sequence and volume of the old building, which corresponds to the typology of classic Italian theater from the 18th century, although with some adaptations.
