Mario Götze is said to definitely leave Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season.
According to a report by “Bild”, the dice have been cast: The time of the 2014 World Champion at BVB therefore expires in the summer. The expiring contract is no longer being extended, it is said. The two parties’ positions regarding the degeneracy of the new contract are so different that an agreement is impossible. Dortmund “only” offers an annual salary of 7 million euros. Götze currently earns 10 million. He allegedly does not want to accept such a reduction. BVB sports director Michael Zorc has already had some talks with father Jürgen in the past. They did not work.
The 27-year-old striker has a tough time in Dortmund anyway: coach Lucien Favre doesn’t really count on him this season. Another top competitor, Erling Haaland, was recently signed.
Where Götze is going after this season is open. Hertha shows interest, but the striker could be drawn abroad. Inter Milan has already knocked, the Premier League has also been an issue in the past – and could be again.
