The Golden Elvis, a new prize to reward the best rock comics – Livres-BD

This Saturday March 19, on the sidelines of the Angoulême Comic Strip Festival, Philippe Maneuver will award the prize for the best “rock” comic of the year 2021.

On March 19, Philippe Manoeuvre, figure of rock culture in the Francophonie and former editor-in-chief of Métal hurlant and Rock & Folk, will award the Elvis d’or to the best “rock” comic of the year 2021. This prize was created on the initiative of the publisher Hervé Desinge and the company KingSpirit, as part of the Angoulême Comics Festival.

The jury for this Elvis d’or prize is made up of Loraine Adam (journalist for Rolling Stone magazine), Nine Antico (comic book author and illustrator), Laetitia Coryn (actress, author and comic book designer), François Julien (head of the culture department of VSD magazine), Tanino Liberatore (comic book author and illustrator) and Philippe Vuillemin (comic book actor and designer). The president of the ceremony, Philippe Manoeuvre, will present the prize to the winner at the restaurant Le Lion Rouge, in Angoulême.

Here are the nominees of this first edition:

  • Underground – High Priestesses of Sound and Accursed Rockers by Arnaud le Gouëfflec and Nicolas Moog, at Glénat
  • A Velvet Underground Story by Prosperi Buri, at Dargaud
  • The Lovers of Hérouville – A true story by Yan Le Quellec, Thomas Cadène and Romain Ronzeau, at Delcourt
  • Return to Liverpool by Hervé Bourhis and Julien Solé, at Futuropolis
  • Cool parano – A graffiti testament by Benoit Carbonnel, at Even not bad
  • A Pink Story by Kate Charlesworth, at Casterman
