Bábek, a native of Brno, established himself among the world’s elite track cyclists, even though years ago he threatened not to play sports. In April 2011, he was in a coma for three days after a collision with a car, and due to numerous serious injuries, doctors predicted the end of his career. But the stubborn warrior was able to return.
And last year he finally wanted to enjoy the Olympic premiere in the individual discipline. However, the games in Tokyo did not take place in the original term due to coronavirus and are scheduled for this summer. “It’s waiting. But when I can’t change things, I try to accept them. I don’t wonder if the Olympics will end up or not. I’m going to prepare like in the Olympic season. I accepted as a fact that if there is an Olympics, it will definitely take place under extraordinary measures without foreign fans and under extraordinary measures. It is necessary not to worry about it …, “Bábek takes a question mark over the fate of the games, which is still hanging with a view.
The announcement of the King of Cycling poll took place on a non-traditional date instead of in the autumn until now, and with regard to epidemiological measures, the program took place under strict conditions. Biker Ondřej Cink and promising road driver Mathias Vacek placed on the imaginary podium behind Bábek and Černý with the same number of votes.
