The goal of ‘Viršu’ is also to become an energy company: an interview with the manager Jānis Vība

Our vision is that in the future we will be not only a fuel trader, but also an energy company, says Jānis Vība, Chairman of the Board of Virši, in an interview with Delfi Bizness. In addition, the fuel trade also has an ambitious goal – to push international players aside and take the first position in the market.

According to the State Revenue Service, the largest fuel retailers in Latvia at present are Neste Latvija and Circle K Latvia.

In an interview, Jānis Vība explains how the price of fuel is formed in “Viršos” and predicts that in the future, when electric car charging will be possible in different places, filling stations will develop as service centers, including leisure facilities.

He also points to interesting statistics that the number of cars in Latvia in proportion to the population is currently the lowest in the entire European Union, which means that inevitably – in line with economic growth – the number of vehicles in Latvia will also increase.

What are the main trends in the fuel market in Latvia at the moment?
