“The goal is to reach March 7 with the highest number of immunized gurises”

This Wednesday they arrive 54,000 pediatric vaccines to Uruguay, and according to the Secretary of the Presidency, Álvaro Delgado, the idea is “to reach March 7 with the highest number of immunized gurises”.

In these cases, the vaccination must have the endorsement of the parents, and will remain voluntary.

According to Delgado at a press conference, the two doses are planned with an interval in between, by means of a system equal to the adult vaccination system in which they will be registered and will have the date and time of the corresponding doses.

The secretary recalled that this vaccine is “a different dose“to that of adults, with less concentration.

Children between the ages of 5 and 11 who have had covid-19 must wait at least three months to be inoculated, reported the Ministry of Public Health (MSP). In addition, they must wait at least two weeks to be given any of the 15 vaccines that make up the Certificate of Vaccination Scheme (CEV) aimed at controlling immunopreventable diseases.

Álvaro Delgado said that the MSP is working with Agesic on the vaccination campaign for children between the ages of five and 11 that will begin in mid-January and said that this vaccination “gives us a lot of guarantees.”

The pharmaceutical company Pfizer informed the Executive Branch that the first consignment will arrive in the country this Wednesday 29, a week earlier than expected. This was reported by VTV and confirmed to The Observer the secretary of the Presidency, Álvaro Delgado.

According to Delgado, a consignment of 54,000 doses of pediatric vaccines will arrive, plus another 40,000 for adults.
