The entry of Jesús Gil in Marbella in the 90s caused a before and after in this wonderful land of Malaga that has been heard so many times. But to talk about those elegant summers, we have to go back to the inauguration of the Marbella Club by Alfonso Hohenlohe, Alfonso XIII’s godson.

The direct and scandalous entrance of Jesús Gil marked the decadence of that Marbella that was talked about so much and where so many well-known faces enjoyed every summer. In fact, in the years of José Luis Rodríguez’s mandate in Marbella, Gil fined 81 million pesetas for illegal construction, something from which it seems he did not learn anything and got into politics because he understood that raising floors was easier if he arrived to the mayor’s office.
Jesús Gil changed everything, the characters began to notice the change and claimed not to be comfortable with the character who had fully immersed himself in Marbella and who was already beginning to be the image of the land.
The decline of Marbella began to be noticed when Sean Connery and his wife left, when the stays of King Fahd began to be less common and with the entry up to three times in prison of Jesús Gil, the man who adored cameras to sell an image that was no longer what it exhibited.

What has been the vacation that everyone wishes they had, but Gil’s failure was to promote constructions that put an end to the tranquility that all known faces wanted there.
Miguel Dominguín, Antonio Banderas, Miuel Boyer, Julio Iglesias, Isabel Preylser, María Teresa Campos, Cari Lapique, Naty Abascal * countless names who have enjoyed the most glorious years of that Marbella that now continues to have its success with the Starlite festival , but that has nothing to do with what was lived in the best years of its history.
