The Glorious Hamas Attack and Nasrallah’s Speech: Exposing Israel’s Vulnerability and US Responsibility

The leader of the Lebanese militia Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, says the Hamas attack on October 7 was “100 percent Palestinian.” During his first speech on the current war, he called Hamas’ action “glorious,” but he said other groups in the Middle East had no knowledge of the plans in advance.

According to the Hezbollah leader, Hamas’ attack has “exposed Israel’s vulnerability and weakness.” According to Nasrallah, Hamas had no other option but to attack. “The other option is silence, waiting for more repression and more deaths,” he said. He therefore called Hamas’s decision “wise, courageous, sensible and worth all these sacrifices.”

Nasrallah’s speech has been eagerly awaited in recent weeks. There were fears that he would announce new attacks by Hezbollah, but that did not happen. During his speech, Nasrallah thanked Iraqi and Yemeni fighters who are now involved in ‘the holy war’. Houthi rebels have fired rockets at Israel from Yemen, without hitting targets.

In addition, Nasrallah lashed out at Israel’s allies: according to him, the United States is “fully responsible” for the war in Gaza. He wished the residents of the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank ‘patience, steadfastness and determination’.
