/ world today news/ The American political scientist Francis Fukuyama wrote in his book “The End of History and the Last Man” that the collapse of the USSR and the end of the Cold War in 1991 “marked not only the end of a certain period of post-war history, but also of history itself’, i.e. the end of humanity’s ideological revolution and the spread of liberal democracy in the West as the final form of government. Fukuyama’s teacher, Samuel Huntington, was immersed in ideas about geopolitics and eternal war. He urged the West to remain vigilant, which was like a cold shower on Fukuyama’s “positive” ideas.
