For lead actress Marlene Morreis alias Ida Sörensen, a case is only solved when all questions are answered satisfactorily. In the third Denmark crime thriller, the self-willed, self-confident and ambitious patrol officer discovers the true background of a failed operation – in which a young aspiring journalist is killed… and entanglements within the ranks of the police. As usual, Nicki von Tempelhoff is investigating at her side. Tobias Oertel, Commissario Capo in the Bozen crime thrillers for many years, plays the head of a drug dealer gang. Lukas Zumbrock, known from “The Practice with a Sea View”, plays a petty criminal. The impressive original setting in Ribe is the early medieval cathedral, the oldest church in Denmark. Florian Schott directed the film based on a screenplay by Timo Berndt. Their first clues lead the investigators to addiction support in Ribe and to a retirement home where Bente did an internship. The two soon realize that Bente’s death has a much more complex background than they assumed.
During the night, patrol officer Ida Sörensen hears urgent cries for help from the church tower. The police officer and her young colleague Emma arrive at Ribe Cathedral. There, high up in the tower, a man is threatening a young woman with a knife. Ida and Emma draw their weapons when the mighty bell suddenly tolls loudly. In the heat of the moment, Emma shoots the attacker Finn Eriksson – the victim Bente Bruun falls to her death. For Inspector Frieda Olsen, the case is over before it has even begun. However, Ida soon begins to doubt the explanation that it was a foiled rape. Ida soon finds out that Bente, a young investigative journalist, had felt threatened days before. While Ida and her colleague Magnus search for a notebook hidden by Bente, the dubious Konrad Gram and his assistant Viggo try to get there first. Without realizing it, Ida puts herself in danger.
