The novelty has been confirmed by the latest update and actually concerns the entire European chessboard, where they are facing each other two important meteorological figures: on the one hand a GIANT tropical sub-Saharan anticyclone, generally the protagonist of our summers, on the other hand the icy troops of theRussian bear, nice way to call a ‘high thermal pressure, which is formed by the accumulation of cold air in the lower layers, following the strong and prolonged dispersion of the heat accumulated during the day during the cold season.

Well after the bad weather of this start of the week, it now seems certain that theAfrican anticyclone, a GOOD GIANT, will be able to take over a large part of the Mediterranean basin, heavily influencing the last days of 2021.
Here is theanomaly. Typically, this weather figure keeps us company during the summer, but this year he decided to overdo it, succeeding to rise in latitude precisely in what should be the coldest period of the year with deviations from the climatic average of + 10/12 ° C, with values ​​therefore in the hills and mountains more similar to May, decidedly anomalous.
There are now all the confirmations we were waiting for: it is therefore legitimate to expect more and more by the end of December strong atmospheric stability, especially in the Center-South, with thermal values ​​up to around 20 ° C during the day, while the North, as often happens this season, could be gripped by that dangerous and feared phenomenon which, on the flip side, is also caused by the anticyclonic field, namely the fog.

In recent days we had called for caution, as these perspectives could have undergone significant changes in one direction or another. However, as we now considerably approach the event, the doubts are increasingly dissipating. In the harsh contention between the pressing anticyclonic field from the South and the descent of icy currents from the north-eastern sectors of the Old Continent, it seems that it will be the first to win: with consequences really abnormal given the period, on which we will return in depth in the coming days.

To conclude, however, we are forced to underline a truly insidious and annoying, at times disgusting phenomenon that will certainly occur: on the northern plains a dense will form fog with disastrous accumulation of atmospheric pollutants, also thanks to a very strong thermal inversion, that is, it will be colder in the plains than in the mountains, even up to at the same time 15 ° C at 1200 meters and 0 ° C in Valpadana.
