The giant glowing ‘X‘, the new Twitter logo, was removed from the company’s headquarters in San Francisco, after a series of complaints from residents of the area and an ultimatum from the Californian city authorities who had requested authorization for a safety check. The move came after a cryptic post by Elon Musk in which the billionaire social media owner wrote that “San Francisco remains beautiful, even if others abandon you, we will always be your friends”, hinting that the headquarters would remain in the city devastated by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Building inspectors noted that the sign had been dismantled,” a spokesman for the city’s Department of Construction said. According to the company, the removal was “voluntary”.
