The Germans set out for the Baltic and the North Sea, the beaches were crowded

The capacity of car parks and beaches in the resorts of Scharbeutz and Haffkrug was already full at noon, only residents, guests with accommodation and public transport could pass.

However, special quarantine measures apply in many holiday destinations. For example, in the town of Norderney on the island of the same name in the North Sea, there is an obligation to wear veils in selected busy streets, at least until 19 July.

A number of restrictions also apply at the Dangast North Sea Spa. For example, beach baskets are spaced three meters apart to maintain a safe distance.

According to local officials, the influx of tourists to the Baltic island of Rügen is still within normal limits. Measures which, for example, prohibit the arrival of one-day tourists to Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, of which Rügen is a part, have contributed to this. Violation of this regulation can result in fines of up to 2,000 euros (53,500 crowns). Due to coronavirus, the capacity of local hotels, guesthouses and campsites has been reduced to 80 percent of normal.

The swimming pools on the lakes around Berlin were also overcrowded. For example, the capacity of the beach swimming pool at Lake Grosser Wannsee was completely exhausted for Saturday and Sunday, so casual passers-by cannot swim in the area. During the day, the police informed on Twitter that Lake Müggelsee was taken by visitors by attack, so the local swimming pool no longer allows other visitors to enter.
