The Kazakhs led twice in the match (1: 0, 2: 1) and defended the gold defender for a long time, but the Canadians broke the opponent’s resistance in the end. Striker Dylan Cozens became the second MS player to reach the hat-trick.
The match started with an hour’s delay of more than 20.30, as a small fire broke out in the Helsinki arena before today’s first duel (Germany – Denmark 1: 0). Its extinguishing and subsequent security measures postponed the beginnings of both meetings.
The Canadians maintained a 100% balance with their fourth victory and, thanks to a better score, are in the 1st place of the A-group ahead of the equally undefeated Swiss.

The first third brought lukewarm hockey, which did not inspire the spectators too much. Interesting situations were minimal and the hockey team was dominated by militancy and mutual emphasis on the defensive.
The events in the middle part brought a more interesting picture. The score was not opened by Dan Meyer in the escape of two against one, on the other hand, the goal did not fall from the barrier during the penalty signal.
In the 27th minute, Ehlers did not score in a promising chance and in five minutes a goal fell on the opposite side. Michaelis finished the power-play combination, directing a shot from Noebels – 1: 0.
The Germans skillfully defended the close lead and had more significant goal opportunities during the rest of the match.
The Danes were not allowed to reach Grubauer’s goal, which eventually scored a clean sheet. Even the goalkeeper without a goalkeeper at the end of the match did not help the Danes to equalize.
