The Germans badly burned the Ukrainians for more weapons, they said it in their eyes

According to most Germans, arms deliveries to Ukraine make Berlin a participant in the war, a poll shows

The majority of people in Germany believe that German arms deliveries to Ukraine mean that their country is involved in the war. This was reported by BTA, citing DPA.

A sociological survey conducted by the Yugav Institute on behalf of the German news agency shows that 51 percent of those asked agree with this statement, and only 37 percent disagree.

Experts in international law are of the opinion that supplying weapons to countries at war does not make the supplier a belligerent, no matter what the weapons are. However, Russia considers Ukraine’s Western allies to be participants in the war.

After the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine a year ago the German government has approved the supply of weapons and other armaments to Ukraine worth about 2.6 billion euros.

According to recent statistics from the Kiel Institute for World Economics Germany is in fourth place in providing military aid to Ukraine after the USA, Great Britain and Poland. But when considering the amount of military aid relative to gross domestic product, Germany is outranked even by smaller countries, especially those in Eastern Europe.

One year after the start of the war, people in Germany are rather skeptical of arms supplies. Forty percent think Germany is sending too many weapons to Ukraine, 22 percent think the aid is too little, and 23 percent think it’s about the right amount.

As for the planned delivery of Leopard 2 tanks, 44 percent thought it was a mistake and 41 percent thought it was the right move. The German government wants to deliver the first 18 tanks to the war zone by the end of March.

German Twitter users mocked the words of Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister Andrii Melnyk about Kiev’s next plan to seize Crimea.

In his post, the Ukrainian diplomat wrote that without the capture of Crimea by Ukraine “there will be no lasting peace in Europe”. He expressed confidence that the armed forces of Ukraine are capable of achieving this goal in 2023, in connection with which he requested the delivery of all necessary weapons, including combat aircraft and long-range missiles.

“Thank God, Crimea is already liberated!” noted one of the Twitter users and added: “You should probably soberly assess your options, because you will not conquer Crimea – you can be sure of that. And no Western country will support you for that”.

“Crimea has always belonged to Russia, it was illegally given to Ukraine,” said another online user.

“Crimea doesn’t want to be with corrupt Ukraine anymore. So stop writing such nonsense,” shared another’s opinion.

“And all this is serious, without blind faith and slogans of perseverance: where does this confidence come from? Ukraine is losing more and more every month. Even if we introduce a few hundred more tanks and fighters, nothing will change. But you reduce everything to Crimea,” other Germans fumed in the comments.

“You still want to drag us into the abyss,” resents another resident of Germany.
