The German Olympic Sports Confederation

Team Germany will travel back to Germany on Monday, August 12, 2024, with Eurostar and an atmospheric welcome ride.

The German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) is pleased to celebrate the return of Team Germany athletes after the Olympic Games in Paris with a special train ride and a warm welcome in the Historic Town Hall in Cologne.

“The Team D welcome trip is a sign of appreciation and respect for the great achievements of our athletes. They have done an outstanding job in Paris, and this should be duly celebrated together with other members of Team Germany on the trip. The subsequent family reception in Cologne offers the athletes the perfect opportunity to share their experiences with their closest confidants,” says Thomas Weikert, head of the Team D delegation and DOSB President.

The welcome trip begins with the joint departure from the Olympic Village to Paris’ Gare du Nord station. During the train journey to Cologne, there will be an atmospheric program on board: a DJ will provide musical entertainment and saxophone star André Schnura will be the special guest responsible for the party atmosphere in the carriages.

Team D is expected at Cologne Central Station at 1:15 p.m. After a group photo, the delegation will move on to the historic town hall, where they will be received by Cologne’s mayor Henriette Reker. The families and friends of the athletes will be waiting in the Piazzetta in Cologne’s historic town hall, which will certainly be an emotional reunion for many. A special highlight will be the ceremonial entry of the athletes in the city of Cologne’s guest book.

Please note that the reception in the historic town hall in Cologne is intended for family and friends. Interested parties and fans have the opportunity to gather in the forecourt of Cologne Central Station to welcome the athletes of Team D.
