The German Garrison was one of the highlights of the children’s trip 2024
The German Garrison is the German sub-unit of the 501st Legion, the world’s largest Star Wars costume club founded in 1997 with over 14,000 active members in more than 60 countries around the globe – from America to Europe to Japan and Australia. The Legion is all about the characters of the Empire, the First Order and the Dark Side, as well as the crooks, villains and shady characters of the Star Wars universe.
In 2000, just three years after the founding of the 501st Legion, which was then still called the 501st Squad, ten stormtroopers and one renegade Jedi decided to break away from the association of European members and form their own German sub-unit. The German Garrison was born.
Through countless convention visits and a lot of advertising, many more members from all over Germany quickly joined and through steady growth we already had 300 active members in 2008. Today, the German Garrison is the largest garrison of the 501st Legion worldwide and is home to the most 501st members outside the USA.

What we do?
Our goal is, on the one hand, that Star Wars fans who own a film-accurate costume of an Imperial character or another “bad guy” have the opportunity to wear it regularly. In addition to having fun, the focus is on promoting friendships and solidarity between members.
On the other hand, we are available if anyone is interested in adding a special flair to an event with characters from the Star Wars universe. We are also always happy to be available for a charity event. As a non-profit organization, we are happy to provide imperial support here.
Since we invest a lot of time and effort into our costumes and are proud to wear them, we are naturally even happier when we can inspire other people to meet us or take a souvenir photo with us. That’s why you can find us at a variety of events throughout Germany:
