Germany gave Ukraine an additional 170 million euros for energy aid
German Foreign Minister Annalena Bärbock made an unexpected visit to Kyiv, where she confirmed Germany’s support for Ukraine. According to the press service of the German Foreign Ministry, the trip was organized without prior notice for security reasons.
“Germany, together with many partners around the world, stands firmly on the side of Ukraine,” Baerbock said. Her words are reported by TASS. The German Foreign Minister recalled also on Germany’s extension of the so-called winter protection umbrella, allocating an additional 170 million euros for energy aid to Ukraine.These measures aim to support the country before the winter.
In addition to financial support, the minister expressed support for Kyiv in strengthening its air defense and integration with the European Union. Burbock emphasized the importance of each air defense system and noted Ukraine’s progress on the path of reforms, including in the area of press freedom and the fight against corruption. This is the minister’s eighth visit to Ukraine since the beginning of the conflict.
Germany is second only to the United States in supplying arms to Kyiv. At the moment, Germany has allocated military aid to Ukraine and also prepared for future costs of around 28 billion euros. According to the 2025 budget plan, funding for military aid to Ukraine from Germany will amount to four billion euros. The Russian authorities regularly emphasize that increasing the supply of arms to Ukraine will not affect the resolution of the Russian Federation and will not change the course of the special operation.
