It was a few weeks ago that we commented on the presentation of the new FIAT Topolino, appreciating and criticizing some of its features. Its iconic line and timeless shapes, the modernity of the electric motor for future urban mobility and the price which is not exactly cheap but still within everyone’s reach, given the sensational outcome of the bookings received via the web through the dedicated FIAT page. We didn’t have time to see it live when a big news appeared online, which could disturb the sales of the little girl from Turin.

Apparently success attracts the attention of the competition and does so faster than we can imagine. The project for Topolino’s rival had certainly been under development for several months on the tables of German engineers and designers, but what surprised everyone was the timing of its presentation. In fact, for a few days now the presence of the new German city car has been predominant among social media trends which, along the lines of its Piedmontese competitor, aims to colonize the streets of the most important urban centers in the world, revolutionizing daily mobility.
Topolino’s rival is the e.Wave X produced by the German e.GO
The sworn rival of the little FIAT Topolino has a name and surname: e.Wave X produced by the German company e.GO and it can already be appreciated and ordered through its official page e-go-mobile.com. e.GO is an independent German manufacturer of innovative electric vehicles and their philosophy is innovation with practicality with which they have developed a unique platform for battery electric vehicles, as well as focusing on creation of micro factories: a revolutionary manufacturing system that represents a completely disruptive approach to the production of electric vehicles.

The new e.Go will be produced in both Europe and the United States with the aim of produce low-cost electric vehicles. Official production will begin in Europe as early as next year in the factory located in North Macedonia and to follow also in the USA thanks also to the economic incentives guaranteed by the Biden administration with the Inflation Reduction Act. Production is already active in the main factory in Aachen capable of churning out 30 thousand units per year.
The new company also recently announced its entry into the stock market in which it will be possible to invest in brand shares. It will be listed on the Nasdaq with the symbol EGOX and its valuation stands at 900 million dollars, thanks to the merger with the Athena Consumer Acquisition company. It is precisely thanks to the attention of this investment fund that e.GO has managed to enter the urban electric mobility sector starting with a small production limited to 1,200 examples sold in Germany for 24,990 euros.
