Garmin has introduced its new InReach Messenger satellite communicatorwhich provides two-way global messaging and the ability to activate an interactive SOS alert, with autonomy up to 28 days.
inReach Messenger guarantees communication at all times, both through the mobile coverage when available, or through the Iridium satellite network completely complete. Its use is also combined with the Garmin Messenger ‘app’ to write text messages or create group messages.
This communicator features a compact form factor and is waterproofwith an IPX7 rating and provides inReach Messenger’s internal rechargeable lithium battery duration up to 28 days.
This communicator also works as an external battery for the mobile phone, to which it transfers a “safety charge” sufficient to send a personalized text message, as reported by the company in a press release.
The dedicated SOS button which incorporates inReach Messenger and the Garmin Messenger “app” allows you to quickly declare an SOS in an emergency. Once notified, inReach Messenger will send a distress signal to Garmin’s IERCC, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
inReach Messenger record the path traveled every ten minutes. In case the user gets lost, TracBack will bring him back the way he traveled or in a straight line to the last recorded waypoint. It also allows you to check weather warnings and request the weather forecast for the current location or for another location indicated in the itinerary.
The new inReach Messenger Satellite Communicator is priced at $ 299.99. The active satellite subscription plan starts at $ 14.99 per month.
