The Gaming Community’s Obsession with Modding Female Characters’ Appearances

The Gamer Editor-in-Chief Stacey Hanley spoke out on the site about the fact that gamers constantly put mods on games that make female characters more beautiful. What’s more amusing to Hanley is that such fashions are even put on attractive heroines.

Hanley gave the example of Baldur’s Gate 3, when gamers immediately concocted a mod that undressed the title’s female characters. She also highlighted modifications that make Laezel’s appearance more pleasant. According to journalism, players in this regard see women only as a commodity:

To look at Shadowheart and instantly think about how you can make her even more beautiful shows that you treat not only video game characters, but women in general, as a commodity.

Stacey stressed that the same thing happened with Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Cyberpunk 2077 and Tomb Raider.
