One thing we’re trying to do this year is make the show a little bit smaller. I won’t say anything officially until we’re done with our testing, but I think this year will be significantly lower.
The journalist also explained the decision to shorten the duration of The Game Awards. The “fatigue” of the public is the main reason, in his words.
I think there was a little weariness from the duration of the event… Lots of games and other things want to be part of it, but we are cutting those things out to try and have a more streamlined show.
Finally, Keighley said that fewer big games will be part of the event: “We’ve definitely shortened the length of the show, so to let you know that there won’t be as many games or big games that there could be,” he concluded.
