The Galician Tourist Housing Association estimates 85% occupancy at Easter

SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA, 11 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Association of Tourist Housing of Galicia (Aviturga) forecasts that this Easter the average occupancy in the community, from Thursday to Sunday, around 85%although there is also a high number of reservations for just two days. The index rises to 100% in urban destinations such as Santiago de Compostela, Pontevedra, A Coruña, Vigo, Lugo, Ourense and Ferrol.

Thus, Aviturga has highlighted that the progressive recovery of normality registered since last summer after the pandemic, predicts some “excellent occupancy data” during this Holy Week, with reserves already specified that place the indices at 85% on average in the four Galician provinces in homes for tourist use.

In this sense, the association has detected this year an important anticipation and foresight in the organization of the vacation period, with reservations already registered since the end of last year, which already
did anticipate a period of activity and vacation movement. The president of Aviturga, Dulcinea Aguinhas pointed out that, however, there will still be last minute reservations. For those furthest behind, Aguín encourages them to “seek accommodation and open up to discover new destinations in Galicia” because they offer homes in “all price ranges” and has ensured that “there are alternatives for all pockets”.

Destinations on the Camino de Santiago

Likewise, Aviturga has also detected that the influence of the Xacobeo 21-22 has made destinations through which the Camino de Santiago passes, such as Arzúa, Sarria, Palas de Rei, Oroso, Caldas de Reis or O Porriño, will exceed 75% occupancy in these dates. Other tourist towns such as Sanxenxo, Poio, Cangas do Morrazo or Ribeira Sacra will reach 80% of activity.

Regarding the origin of the tourists, Aviturga has indicated that they are mainly nationals, from the north (Asturias, Cantabria and the Basque Country), Castilla León and above all, Madrid. On the other hand, Aguín has also reported the “excellent forecasts” for the summer season, with an average level of reserves, three months ahead, that reaches 50%. Some data that you have described as “historical”, since until now he has pointed out that they were used to “improvisation and last-minute reservations”, which makes them “very optimistic” for the summer season.
